System of electronic injection of fuel (EFI) – the general information The Toyota Land Cruiser cars considered in the present manual are equipped with the system of electronic injection of fuel (EFI) consisting of three main subsystems: systems of distribution of supply of fuel, system of admixture of air and electronic control system.System of distribution of supply of fuel The electric fuel pump is placed in a gasoline tank and provides a constant pressure of supply of fuel to the fuel highway. In the fuel highway fuel is evenly distributed between injectors which inject it directly into the inlet ports of combustion chambers located over inlet valves. Control of amount of the fuel injected into the engine is exercised by the electronic module (ESM). The special regulator carries out adjustment of pressure in a power supply system depending on depression depth in the inlet pipeline. The fuel filter is installed between a gasoline pump and the fuel highway and serves for protection of components of a path against pollution.System of admixture of air The air cleaner, the throttle case, and the air sleeve connecting the listed components are a part of system. The special sensor (IAT sensor) continuously traces temperature of the air which is soaked up in the engine, sending the relevant information to ESM which considers it when determining duration of the impulses operating opening of injectors. Control of the provision of a butterfly valve in the case of a throttle is exercised by the driver by means of the accelerator pedal. When opening the gate the speed of air supply increases that leads to decrease in temperature of a stream. IAT immediately notifies ESM on the happened changes therefore the module in due time corrects fuel supply.Electronic control system The microprocessor electronic module of management (ESM) exercises control of functioning of systems of injection, ignition and decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases. Accepting signals from a set of information sensors and analyzing the obtained information, ESM constantly controls such working parameters of the engine as temperature of the soaked-up air, extent of opening of a butterfly valve, temperature of cooling liquid, turns of a bent shaft, speed of the movement of the car, content of oxygen in the fulfilled gases, etc. On the basis of the analysis of the arriving information of ESM determines duration of opening of injectors providing optimum at the moment to time composition of air-fuel mix. A part of information sensors and relay of their management are not directly a part of system of injection of fuel and are scattered on a motive compartment of the car.
