Check of serviceability of functioning of the fuel pump

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The scheme of a design of the fuel pump is given on an illustration above.
2. Connect the scanner to the diagnostic DLC3 socket (address an accompanying illustration).
3. Include ignition (the engine do not start).
4. Start function of the Check of the Fuel Pump scanner ("Test fuel pump") and follow its instructions.
5. In the absence of the scanner remove a back seat and a carpet (see the Section Removal and installation of the fuel tank), remove the technological hatch and give a power supply from the 12-volt accumulator on the pump socket.
6. Check presence of pressure of fuel at the exit from the pump: in a hose pulsations have to be felt and fuel murmur has to be heard. In this case the assistant listens to operation of the pump at uncovered a jellied mouth of the fuel tank.
7. If pressure is absent, check the following components:
   a. Fusible inserts (MAIN2.0L, AM20.3P);
   b. Safety locks (EFI 15 A, IGN 7.5 A);
   c. Main relay (EFI)
   d. Fuel pump
   e. ECU
   f. Electrical wiring sockets
8. Transfer the ignition key to situation "Lock".
9. Disconnect the scanner from the DLC3 socket.

Verification of the pressure head characteristic of the fuel pump

Check of pressure of fuel requires the special manometer with a scale of wide range and a transitional nozzle for connection of the manometer to system of injection of cars of the Toyota brand.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Prepare the special manometer equipped with a connecting hose with the nipple socket with a hollow bolt and calculated on measurement of pressure of fuel in the range up to 4.2 kgfs/cm of 2.
2. For dumping of residual pressure in the fuel tank uncover his jellied mouth.
3. Check battery charge level, – output tension has to make not less than 12 V (see the Head Elektrooborudovaniye of the engine).
4. Dump pressure in a power supply system (see the Section Dropping Pressure in a power supply system).
5. On the fuel highway for connection of the manometer the special union is provided, do not forget to establish sealing washers on both sides of a hollow bolt (address an accompanying illustration). Tighten a bolt with effort of 29 Nanometers.
6. Attach the scanner to the DLC3 socket. Connect the battery, include ignition.
7. Consider the indication of the manometer and compare it to requirements of Specifications. At excessively high indications check passability of the line of return of fuel and the fuel filter, in case of need replace pressure regulator. If pressure in system is not enough, press a returnable fuel pipe, – if pressure rises, replace the regulator, otherwise check a condition of the line of supply of fuel, a gasoline pump and the fuel filter.
8. Start the engine. Measure fuel pressure on single turns. If the result of measurement exceeds the limit of admissible range (see Specifications), check the regulator of pressure of fuel and/or injectors.
9. Kill the engine and make sure that within five minutes the system continues to keep pressure at the level of not lower than 1.5 kgfs/cm 2. If pressure falls too quickly, check the regulator, the pump and injectors for existence of signs of development of leaks.
10. Having checked pressure, disconnect a negative wire from the battery and accurately remove the manometer with adapters. Try not to pour fuel.
11. Attach the fuel highway with new sealing rings. Tighten bolts the moment of 29 - 34 Nanometers.
12. Attach a negative wire to the battery.
13. Start the engine and be convinced of lack of leakages.
