 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remember that violations of functioning of system of a charge are far not necessarily connected with failures of the generator. First of all always you make the following elementary checks:    

   a. Check a state and effort of a tension of a driving belt of the generator (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car). In case of need make replacement;
   b. Check reliability of tightening of fixing bolts of the generator;
   c. Check a condition of an electrical wiring and electric connections of the generator;
   d. At the corresponding complete set check a condition of the fusible insert established between the traction relay of a starter and the generator or a condition of big main safety locks in a motive compartment. In case of identification of the beaten-out elements, establish and eliminate the reason of the overloads taking place, then replace defective components;
   e. Check a condition of all safety locks included in an electric chain of system of a charge (address an illustration above). Location of safety locks and fusible inserts can vary depending on model and year of release of the car, however the system of designations at the same time remains invariable. Are subject to check: main fusible insert, fusible insert of ALT (80A), fusible insert of AM1 (40A), fusible insert of AM2 (30A), safety lock of IG2 (7.5A), safety lock of GAUGE (10A) and safety lock of ALT (7.5A);
   f. Start the engine and estimate intensity of the noise background published by the generator;
   g. Check electrolyte density in banks of the rechargeable battery, in case of need make recharge of the last;
   h. Make sure of completeness of a charge of the battery, – one faulty can can be the reason of a recharge of the battery);
   i. Disconnect from the battery at first negative, then positive wires. Estimate a condition of wires of the battery in places of their connection them to polar plugs of the last. Check reliability of fastening of terminal clips. Having carefully smoothed out contact plugs, connect the battery.

2. By means of the voltmeter measure tension given by the battery at the killed engine, – the result of measurement has to make about 12 Century.
3. Start the engine and repeat check: this time indications have to make 13.5 – 15.1 Century.
4. Include head headlights, at regularly functioning system of a charge tension has to fall at first, then be restored to the previous level.
5. If the size of the measured tension considerably exceeds nominal rate, replace tension regulator (see the Section Check of Serviceability of Functioning of a Starter and Chain of Start).
6. At excessively low indications make checks of the regulator of tension and the generator (see further).
7. Remove a back cover from the generator. Ground the plug F (address an accompanying illustration), start the engine and measure battery tension. If the result of measurement exceeds admissible value, replace the regulator. At excessively low indications of the voltmeter drive away the car in a workshop of car service for check of output parameters of the generator with use of the ampermeter.
8. In the presence of near at hand ampermeter check of output parameters of the generator can be made by own forces of the motorist. Connect the ampermeter to system according to the scheme given on an accompanying illustration.

Instead of the ampermeter it is also possible to use the inductive indicator of current which can always be got rather cheap in shops of automobile accessories.

9. Lift engine turns to value 2000 in a minute and consider the indication of the ampermeter at the switched-off onboard consumers of the electric power, then turn on driving beam and transfer the heater fan to the maximum high-speed mode. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications.
10. At excessively low indications make recovery repair, or replacement of the generator.
