The electric drive of external rear-view mirrors – general information and check of serviceability of functioning

For the drive of a side rear-view mirror two electric motors are used: one provides adjustment of provision of a mirror in the vertical plane, the second – in horizontal. In addition, on some models the electrical heating of mirrors working at inclusion of heating of back glass is provided.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The switch of control of the electric drive is usually equipped with the selector knot providing the choice of the direction of giving of tension (on right or on the left mirror). Without starting the engine, turn the ignition key in position of ON, lower door glasses and test all modes of functioning of the electric drive of both side mirrors.
2. Attentively listen to the sounds made by electric motors of the drive of mirrors.
3. If aurally the motor works regularly, however the mirror does not change the situation, perhaps, defect of the driving mechanism in a mirror takes place. Remove the corresponding mirror and sort it for search of a cause of failure.
4. If mirrors do not function and motors of their drives do not make any sounds, check a condition of the corresponding safety lock (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car).
5. If a safety lock as it should be, remove the switch of management of functioning of the electric drive of mirrors from the support (do not disconnect an electrical wiring). Include ignition and check serviceability of giving of food for the switch. Tension has to take place on one of switch socket plugs, otherwise check a condition of a connecting electrical wiring on the site between the switch and the assembly block of safety locks.
6. If food moves regularly, disconnect an electrical wiring and check correctness of distribution of provodimost between switch plugs in its various provisions (in position of OFF conductivity has to be absent).
7. The faulty switch is subject to replacement.
8. Restore initial connection of an electrical wiring and find a wire of grounding of assembly of the switch. Duplicate grounding by a wire crossing point. If now the motor begins to function, it is necessary to restore quality of grounding of assembly on weight.
9. If grounding as it should be, and the drive still does not work, uncover with assemblies a mirror and check serviceability of giving of food for a driving electric motor. Include ignition and transfer the selector switch of assembly of management to adjustment of the corresponding mirror. When moving a key of adjustment of provision of a mirror to any of working provisions on the drive of the last tension has to move.
10. At identification of violations in giving of food check a condition of an electrical wiring on the site between the switch and the drive.
11. If tension moves regularly, remove a mirror and check serviceability of functioning of its drive by a direct zapityvaniye from the battery:
   a. By means of wires crossing points connect a positive pole of the battery to the plug No. 3 of a driving electric motor, negative to the plug No. 1, the mirror has to turn to the left;
   b. When changing polarity the mirror has to turn to the right;
   c. Now connect the battery between plugs 2 (a positive pole) and 1 (a negative pole), the mirror has to be developed up;
   d. When changing polarity of connection of the battery the mirror has to be developed down.
12. The faulty mirror is subject to replacement (see the Head Kuzov).
